PETRA JOY
INDEPENDENT, AWARD-WINNING ART-CORE FROM A FEMALE PERSPECTIVE
Sensuality, intimacy, creativity and humour. These are aspects of sex we all know, but usually do not associate with pornography. With her films independent pornographer Petra Joy shows that by adding these sensations to porn, it gets richer and comes closer to what women recognise and find satisfying to watch. For one, Joy focusses on female sexual gratification to encourage women to tell their partners how they want to be pleasured without feeling guilty to do so. Apart from putting female pleasure first, she portrays men as subjects of female desire – something we very much appreciate! – and does not shy away from societal taboo themes such as male bisexuality, sexual fluidity and the joys of prostate stimulation for straight men. Therefore Joy’s work does not only empower women, she empowers men as well.
A PETRA JOY FILM IS AN ARTISTIC, VISUAL FEAST WITH GENUINE CHEMISTRY AND ORGASMS.
Petra Joy’s talent for visual expression and her many years of experience working as a photographer, freelance television producer and director give her films a unique, artistic quality. In 2004 she released her first erotic movie Sexual Sushi, featuring a real-life couple, to see if she was able to visualise her idea of female-centred sexuality on film. Joy’s artistic approach in Sexual Sushi was new to the adult scene and became an instant hit. After that there was no stopping her. Female Fantasies, based on the erotic fantasies of various women, followed and was rewarded with several awards. With both films Joy was the filmmaker in focus at the very first Pornfilmfestival Berlin in 2005. Come Together, four short films with diverse, exciting themes, is her latest work and shows that experimental, authentic sex scenes can be very hot and orgasmic indeed.
Joy’s films are as she calls it ‘silicone-free zone’, meaning she works with female performers that do not depict the typical adult visualisation of the “ideal” female sex partner. The men are cast based on their sex skills, in other words their ability to truly satisfy their female counterpart, not the size of their penis.
By choosing women and men with various, natural body types Joy makes it possible for both her female and male audience to identify themselves with the performers in stead of feeling intimidated by ideals that for most people are not in conformity with reality. Joy stays clear from sexual acts that women may find degrading, such as the cum shot in the face, and does not demand certain positions or angles just to get good close-up shots of the genitals. Real pleasure comes first, also for her performers.
A Petra Joy film is an artistic, visual feast with genuine chemistry and orgasms. Although her work is often called “porn for women”, Joy emphasises it is about the female perspective and that she strives to make her movies appealing and sexy to everyone.
